View Full Version : Importing of components to South Africa
Hi ya all,
I am starting to think on some essential upgrades on the Tandem. With the current R / $ exchange rate in our favour it is now the correct time to go this avenue. I am thinking of getting the FSA Gossamer Tandem Crankset as well as other components like chains, a cassette and other odds and ends. Could any of you in the States propose a reputable dealer that offers goods at a reasonable price. All help would be appreciated.

I've imported from the UK (Deeside Cycles) to NZ. I know Performance Bike in the US will export, but many US companies wil not export. However, tandem specialists such as Prescision tandems maybe better on sending outside the US.
I wonder how the Kiwi dollar is against the US? (Just looked NZ$1 = US$0.72, that's good) I could do with a couple of things for our tandem.

Try Harris Cyclery address: CaptBike@sheldonbrown.com
They specialise in shipping hard to get small parts.
Great site for info on bikes as well.

I just thought I'd reopen this thread and offer to help if I can. I live in Australia, but maintain a US address. I frequently order from Performance, Supergo, Pricepoint, Jenson USA, etc, and have them shipped to my California address, then forwarded to me here in Australia, where I either use the items on our tandem, or sell on ebay for a small profit because the prices locally are too high. I know you had some trouble with one company not shipping to you, so I thought I'd offer a suggestion. Alex at MTBTandems.com is an FSA dealer, and I think he ships worldwide. We got our crankset, chains, BBs etc from him delivered to Australia. Very fair prices too. If there's anything else you need, let me know and I'll offer any other sources I might know.
Cheers,
Brian
