Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It hasn't happened but just a couple of times...However, have you ever happily left your home on your bike, in full expectation of having a great day, when suddenly, you realize that you left your lock at home?
This happened to me last Saturday. On the previous day, I was looking for a business card, that I was certain that I had to be inside of my backpack. Since, I wasn't being successful in finding the business card, and I was so convinced that it just had to be inside my backpack somewhere, I upturned the backpack, emptying out all of its contents.
The lock fell unto the floor and I quickly scooped it up and placed it on top of the of TV. This happened Friday afternoon.
Saturday morning comes around, and I'm rushing to get out of the house so that I can catch the BART to downtown San Francisco. So, I ride to the BART station and I catch my train to downtown San Francisco.
Next, I cycle to my destination. I dismount only to suddenly realized that I can't lock my bike up. I can't lock it up, due to the fact that it's still on top of the darned television, back at home!
Oh well__! Perhaps next Saturday...Huh?
This ever happen to you in some manner or fashion?
-Slim :)
PS.
Turns out, the business card was in the glove compartment of my car.
Seat tube mounted u-lock, works every time, never have forgotten a lock.

I forgot my lock when going out for pizza. I rolled the bike in the front door and leaned it against a wall out of the way. Nobody complained.
I park in my office at work, so no lock required. Many places won't complain about a bike. I see a massage therapist regularly and it's a cramped building, so I lock up out front. I forgot my lock once, and was able to bring the bike in, but it wasn't convenient for others to get around, so I'm careful not to forget my lock now.

It wasn't the first time that happened either.

That is why I have installed Axa Defender locks on my main rides. Those ring locks may not be the most ideal, but you sure don't forget them either.

I don't have much of a memory at all. But I don't like bikes in buildings, and keep it locked outside. Since I have to unlock it to get going there isn't much chance of forgetting it.
frame mounts are good too :)

It's pretty rare I leave my lock on top of the television.

That would have a lot to do with it. :)
I do suffer from some fatigue related memory loss at times so have to be extremely orderly lest I misplace anything... my main lock stay attached to my pannier or goes in my backpack although I did forget it at the shop the other night.
Not a problem as I was not stopping and was returning the next day and do have spares I can use.
