Introductions - Basically I don't know what I'm doing!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello! I'm about as newb as it gets! I like to mountain bike in the summer but I'm looking to getting more into spinning/cycling. I live in Kansas so does anyone have any good indoor training advice since the cold weather is sneaking up?
I have about a million and one questions so I apologize in advance for all of the questions! You can't say I didn't warn you!

Honestly, I would either use your current mountain bike (or get a hold of a road bike) in conjunction with a indoor "fluid" trainer. A fluid trainer is different than a magnetic wheel type trainer.
Hook your bike's rear wheel into the trainer then you're ready to start to ride indoors. Use music, a Hindustan chant or something, anything to fight off the boredom than can come when riding no where, and sweating profusely. Also, have a towel handy to wipe your face off periodically, and by all means use an energy drink of choice -- by all means never become dehydrated, because feeling thirsty is the first stage of dehydration. Hence, drink little and often, even if you do not feel thirsty. Try going to www.excelsports.com and check out their trainers. Hope this helps.
