Introductions - New Guy

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just joined. Old guy trying to get back into some shape. Have ridden the Gary Fisher Tarpon 1680 miles/65 lbs since July 1 and now looking for a road bike. Might enjoy group rides if(!) I could travel at the speeds I see all ya'll riding.
Cheers IBOHUNT, welcome to Bike Forums!

Do you have a bike in mind? I'm also an old guy trying to regain the waist of my youth. Riding is a great, fun, low impact way of accomplishing this.

I was reading the 50+ forum last Friday which helped me this weekend with what appears to be an 'addiction'.
I got up on Sunday and the temp was 28F and the flag was straight out from the wind. All I said to myself was "I will probably be spending a lot of time in the 39 tooth ring today". Got in two decent rides this weekend; 48 miles averaging 15 mph on Saturday and 67 miles yesterday averaging only 14 mph with a +/-3400' elevation change according to ridewithgps.com. Yesterday was spent trying to improve my rpms.

I've looked at my region and I can't find any group ride that are close. Am looking at the Baltimore MD area now.

I actually "found" a bike. It's a 2011 Giant TCR Advanced Ultegra build. Got it for what I think is a 'steal'. A huge difference over a 34 pound mountain bike except when climbing over the mountain which is a 600' climb over 1/2 mile.

Yep, that's the one. I did put pedals on it too :)
Raining here or I'd have gone out today.
