To build a bikestand
depends on what tools and materials and skills you have (I have little of all three). I needed a stand and I have a 18v drill (used to drive screws), chop saw and some SDS 3 " screws and a firewood pile (not a machine shop). I built a stand using scrape (from a remodel down the street) 2x4's (legs) 2x6's (top piece) and 4x4 (vertical piece) in about 1/2 hour and it lasted 1 minute because I used too few SDS screws (2 at the joints). The next stand took less than 1/2 hour and I used 4 screws at the joints and a brace at the bottom and it works. My biggest surprise is that is stands upright because I was going to put more legs on it but it works. It is now in my living room in front of my TV with a bike on it. It does wobble but that has not bothered me yet. I can spin the cranks as fast as I can and slam on the brakes and it has not fallen off yet. It is easy to store because it is not wide.
attached (I hope) are a couple of photos and more at:

QUESTION - how can I make the above address a link?
thanks (oh I see it becomes one automatically)
ps I made a 56 meg 2.5 min video of it but I do not know how to send it to anyone.
