A few months back, when I was fixing up my bike, my nephew asked me if we could ride together once I got my bike working. This posed a bit of a problem as he didn't have a bike and he'd never ridden without training wheels. His father has a bad back, so at 7 the nephew still hadn't ridden without training wheels. That got me thinking so I bought a cheap department store bike to teach him on. So for the last month, I've taken him out every so often and he finally got the hang of it and was riding on his own yesterday for like 3 hours. I didn't count the miles, but I figure just the time I spent riding with him, we probably did about two or three miles on the caldesac. Now I can't wait to get him fit for riding with me on some longer rides.:D
That brings me to today. My best friend has been thinking of commuting to the bus station to get to work rather than driving. So today we went browsing a shop near his house that was having a sale. He ended up with a 2011 Trek 7.1 and loves it. He's already planning a ride for us on the SART to the beach.
I ended up testing out a Specialized Tarmac and the Trek Madone 4.7 (I think). I like the ride of them both, but tad bit beyond my price range. Besides, I kinda want an LHT or Disc Trucker for my next bike. Riding these two though, makes me want to do a custom build on the Disc Trucker as I like certain features of each. Now if my wallet can keep up, lol.
