Folding Bikes - Dahon Vitesse D7HG: Will Schwalbe Big Apples fit?

I am considering getting some Big Apples for my D7HG. But I am wondering if even the 2" ones will fit under the stock SKB mini fenders on the bike. Also, even with the brake cables released it's a pretty good squeeze getting the stock "Rotolos" in there past the brake pads. It looks to me like the Big Apples might have to be deflated to get them in there, then reinflated afterwards?

They fit on my 2007 model though mudguard clearance is a bit tight. Can't remember if it's necessary to let some air out.

adjusts the brakes so you have enough "slack" to dissengage the noodle and the tire chancge is easy
its a close fit but will work
even with regular sks fenders on it

We have installed 2" Big Apples on current model and previous model Vitesse D7HGs with their stock fenders. Deflating them makes them easier to install/remove.

Well, after installing a Kinetix Comp front wheel yesterday, I don't think the Big Apples would be a good idea. The Kinetic Comp rim is 4mm narrower than the stock front wheel. I think the Kinetix Comp wheel is likely a bit narrow for the 1.75" Rotolo, let alone the 2" Big Apple.

If I want to put on better tires, I don't think Big Apples will be the way to go. So far I don't really have any complaints about the Rotolos anyway, and I do like the way they look.

BTW, the Kinetix Comp front wheel I got yesterday is laced in a cross-2 pattern, not radial as shown in the picture:

Not that it really matters to me. I just think it's careless of Dahon to publish inaccurate stuff.

The Speed P8 has been using 2" Big Apples on the Comp wheel for U.S models since, I believe, 2005. I am not aware of any issues with that combination.

OK, thanks Hank. I didn't mean they'd spontaneously blow off the rim, but I do think they are designed for a wider rim than the Comp rim.

I get so weary of being wrong all the time. I wrote to Schwalbe and asked them the recommended rim width for the 20x2" Big Apple. They responded in about 15 minutes "17 to 27mm".

Out of curiosity, How much weight is added on to the bike once you switch to the Big Apples?

I don't know the weight of the stock tire. The weight for Shwalbe tires is available at
