ODOT Closes McKenzie Pass Highway
BEND – Maintenance managers with the Oregon Department of Transportation have made the decision to close the Old McKenzie Pass Highway, OR 242, for the winter/snow season effective Monday, November 14 at 3pm.
Forecasts for increased snow deposits on top of what exists at the summit have prompted ODOT to make the decision to close the highway.
ODOT’s records indicate that the earliest closure of the Old McKenzie Pass Highway occurred on October 18, 1996. The latest closure happened on January 10, 1939. The closure for 201 occurred on October 25.

... which means it's now open to everyone else who wants to brave the weather and road conditions until June-ish 2012.
