Classic & Vintage - Help ID these Campy cranks?

These cranks are on an '84 Trek 760. The cranks themselves are dated 1984. They don't look like any of the photos I've seen of Campy cranks of that era. Sorry, I know next to nothing about Campagnolo stuff. Sorry for the lousy photos. Help?

Didn't they come with Victory (http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=510C9C68-2312-4134-95F5-AEB828D2C1D8)?

Those are Victory, same thing on my Ciocc.

Thanks, fellas. Looks like you're right. I hadn't bothered to check Victory because apparently it wasn't introduced until '85--one source even said '86--and like I said, the cranks are dated '84. Strange. Maybe my crankset is just a really early specimen?

Btw, Alan, your shifters went out in the mail today.

If the Victory group was introduced in '85it stands to reason that many groups would have been made in the later part of '84.

becareful with those self extractors/single key releases. they work well but I can't recall if those retaining rings are left hand thread or standard right

Campy introduced the Triomphe and Victory gruppos in 1984 but they didn't appear in their catalogs until after 1985 (Frank Berto - "The Dancing Chain").

The threading for the outer ring of the self extractor is left handed, dont strip them out of loose them or you will need a Lefty thread crankarm puller.

Cool thing about those cranks is that they can be made into a compact. In 1985 it would be total embarrassment to use a 36-50! Victory was way ahead of it's time.

Yup, and they use a 109 mm, symmetric spindle, which was also ahead of its time in 1984. Zeus immediately copied it (but with their odd 119 mm BCD...).

The tough part (now) is finding chainrings smaller than 42 teeth that fit. 116 BCD (five-arm) was only used by Campagnolo back then, it seems. There is a current Miche 'youth' crankset that uses that bolt pattern, so those rings should fit, but the rings for those are only 2000 series aluminum, I believe.

The compact rings do come up occasionally on ebay. Judging by the prices they sell for, you & I are not the only folks looking for a set.
