Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have had this posted over on the Mtn Bike forum and the Clyde Forum, but since I am 53 yr old, thought my fellow geezers and geezettes might enjoy.

This ride was last Sunday at Dupont State Forest in Brevard, NC on the "Ridgeline". This is one set of over 80 miles of mountain bike trails in this system. This loop was about 7 miles with a 2 mile fantastic downhill that I filmed most of,

At about the 1 minute mark, you will be witness to a 53 year old bike crash. It is now Wednesday and i hurt like hell. Sore hip and a couple of ribs that are not happy, and not much skin left on my elbow. But, I must say, that I can't wait to do it again:) The rest of the video after the fall has some music behind it to cool it up a bit and to cover my moaning :innocent: Enjoy.

There is a reason why my 65 year old body doesn't do trail riding. This video just made me remember why? I have done a lot of exciting things in my life, but my dare-devil days are over. Actually it looked like fun, but there are just too many obstacles in the way when riding a trail vs riding a paved path. Yes! I'm a road weenie, so go ahead and bash me.

If I lived a bit closer to some similiar type riding, I'd be looking at an mtb. As it is the closest is about an hour away which means I need to think about it.

Great video of nice smooth single track. The more you ride the less you fall, and for some, the faster you go. Why did you crash? It looked like you rode off the hardpack and slipped on the dry oak leaves.

I actually have been riding singletrack and fire roads for about 6 years steady. You are correct, I was so blown away by the speed of this run and I just let it slip off a little and when I did, i screwed up and tapped the front (why I have no idea???) and the leaves turned into ice:eek:

This was a full 2 miles of downhill. The day before I ran it twice and the second run I probably only tapped the brakes maybe a half dozen times and never pedaled.

I actually would rather climb that trail than descend it. But then I like climbing better than descending, even on a road bike.

Nice run! Such a smooth trail.
How is the camera attached to the bike?

Very nice trail. Kinda looked like the front end washed out. Too much(too little?) air in front tire?

LOVE descents :)

I knew you were getting into trouble when the speed looked like it was increasing - glad the injuries are minor!

Jean, I have a Contour GPS HD camera and I use this mount http://store.contour.com/contour-flex-strap-p66.aspx

It is super easy to change it from Fork to Frame and the positions are almost limitless.

It's nice when you crash into leaves, and not a big ol' rock or massive tree.
