Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I look forward to seeing at least some of you there. But I wanted to confirm that by acclimation and consensus we are riding not Tuesday but Wednesday evening, 7pm at the fountain by Columbus Circle.

See you later, you dirty dogs.

Well I'm riding to work ever day this week, so I'll be pretty cold and tired come wednesday night, I think I'll just stay home with my gf and shack.

OK. Some other time, then. Be warm and cozy...it's a good time of year for that.

Just out of curiosity, are a lot of you busy on weekends? I've been wanting to organize a ride up to bear mountain, so far I think I got 2-3 people from this board who might be willing to join, I can definitely think of 1 person who's up for it.
Weekdays a lot of us have work and I actually have some stuff for another company that I'm doing at home in the evenings.

I'll be there. Already cancelled some prior plans. Now if it only stays above 45 and doesn't pour or snow

Why couldn't we have this idea in the fall? :D

How far is Bear Mountain from the city and how's the ride?

Touche! I have no problem admitting I'm a wimp when it comes to riding in the cold.

I usually am busy, what with the wife, kids, dogs, cats, house, etc. and yet I do manage to find time to ride on the weekends anyway. Bear Mtn would be about a century, right? maybe more? I'd guess that there'd be a wide range of skills participating, making it a 6 or seven hour ride, right? I could find time for that, sure, but can't we do it when it's warmer? It's cold outside!!

I think bear mountain, if you follow one of the popular routes up and down is about 120 miles total, 150 if you ride from brooklyn. But with a whole group of people in a paceline, it shouldn't be that bad, especially if you go easy. Maybe 4 hours to and 4 hours back.

I'm nowhere near that level yet... I mean, don't get me wrong... When I first got on a bike again in July, 1 mile was killer, now I regularly ride between ten and twenty, but I'm not in that 120 mile range...

Yet... :D

The most I've done in a single day is probably around 50-60 miles. Wasn't so bad though, but I was definitely quite tired by the end. I would certainly be interested in going to bear mountain on a weekend but I too would rather wait until it's a little warmer.

Maybe you guys should take a hint from CM. Make it a specific night, rain or shine, and keep it short, like 10 mles or so. Some people may not be able to make it but others might decide to show at the last minute - as long as they're certain it's happening. If it gets rained out one week there's always the next.

So much for tonight... Have to work late 'cause of the holidays. I hate working in a retail oriented (not retail specifically) business. Looks like it's gonna be weekends or nothing for me 'til Christmas...

Ugh. OK so next Wednesday, Laika? I have to pick up some packages today so I'd be pretty encumbered myself. Too bad because it looks to be a beautiful day.

Laika, I'll IM you at work and maybe we can figure something out off-forum and then post again.
