I have a pair of first generation Record Ergos. The original hoods were very worn so I bought replacements and removed the originals. They were difficult to remove and I tore them in doing so.
I ran the Ergos through a kerosene bath in the ultrasonic cleaner, flushed with WD-40 and greased the gears. They're ready for new hoods.
I've installed plenty of aero and non-aero brake lever replacement hoods, but no Ergos. If anyone has any experience here I'd love to hear it. With other levers I submerge the new hood in very hot water, then add some dish soap to slide it on from the rear (clamp end) of the lever. However, with the Ergos, the thumb shifter presents a problem.
Thanks in advance.

what I did with those is remove the lever from the bars and slide them on from the back.
also used the dishsoap to help lube things. they're pretty fragile around the opening
for the thumb lever.

Rear of lever meets front of hood, right? That's the way I install aero brake lever hoods.

Where did you get them, I too am looking to get new hoods for my Sachs Ergos. I know I will never see new Sachs hoods and Hudz doesn't make them so I'm left with Campagnolo
yup rear if Hood meets front of lever. You don't want that cone shape dragging along the
top of the hood, you can do it but it's a real *****

My LBS. I think he got them from QBP.

Thanks. I thought that they hadn't made them in years. So QBP has a stock.
velomine sells them in pairs or lots. (http://www.ebay.com/sch/velomine/m.html?_nkw=camp*+hood*+8)

It helps if you can push the thumb lever down while you put the hoods on. It's easier to get it into the slot that way rather than having it in the default position.

Cool. Thanks for the tip, stausty.
