The old wheel used a low flange Shimano deore hub and the new one uses a Shimano large flange hub. The spoke count went from 36 to 32 I expected it to be more flexible but I couldn't tell the difference. After doing some measurements and some math the large flange does increase the bracing angle of the spokes. Of course the large flange is much better in transmitting torque. After testing this wheel to destruction I will build a new wheel with 36 spokes and an XT hub. By the way the Shimano FH756 hub does not have the steel insert for the freewheel like the FH750. Still the large flanges move the bearing out 10mm reducing bent axles they are a good choice for Clydesdales on a budget.
