Greetings all,
My name is Thom and I am from western Washington state. I'm an old coot with many health issues but throughout all the years I have always loved to ride. I need to do this for a variety of reasons now but trying to get into some kind of shape is primary.
I bought one of the first edition Schwinn Le Tours from Japan in late '73. It's got an LT-5 frame (love it cause I'm 6'3") in opaque blue and I have always loved riding this bike. It's funny because it's the only thing in my life I've been able to hang onto.
I joined to get riding info for the future and maintenance tips and tricks since I have to do some work on the bike.
I also am looking for info on the serial #: 4B 0188A. I know it's Feb. '74 but I don't know about the rest. Any help?

Welcome to the forum! I've moved your thread from Introductions to the Classic & Vintage forum. I'm sure they can help you get information on your Schwinn.

Get us a picture, you, your bike, or your problem. We get answers, may not be to your questions. Welcome aboard, and what part of the bike are you having a problem with?

Welcome to the Bike Forums.

I remember the first time I got back on a bicycle and went for my first serious ride. I felt as if the child in me had been released again.

Since you are sort of new to the interest, might I invite you to visit MY "TEN SPEEDS" (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/FREE_SITE_1/FREE_SITE_1_HOME.htm), a website designed to help people come up to speed fast, and make fewer mistakes, in the vintage bicycle interest.

And, you are definitely at the right place now, if seeking particular information is your goal.

Welcome to BF and the C&V forum. You should also visit the 50+ forum, we are pretty laid back there too. Read Randy's "My Ten Speeds" web site for some good knowledge on C&V bikes and keeping them running and yourself young.
