Classic & Vintage - CL in KC: Guerciotti

Just spotted this on CL (not mine but I'm willing to facilitate if you're interested)... very nice with pantographing.

This bike is in remarkably good condition. There are very few paint chips or scratches.

My father purchased this bike new in 1983-85 (can't remember). He used it a little here and there, but never put many miles on it.

I used it for one summer and probably put a couple hundred miles on it in that time. It's been in storage the last 4 years.

This bike is mostly all original, except for the saddle. The saddle that comes with the bike is made by Specialized.

Everything on the bike is Campy, except the hubs. The wheels are Omega Hardox Campagnolo.

It needs a new rear tube, so you can't ride it. But it rode great the last time I took it out. Light, fast and rides like it's on rails.

I have seen the frame sell on ebay for 500$ and am firm with the price at 600.

Actual bike pictured. The measurement from the center of the BB to the top of the seat post is 58cm.

The frames for sure don't sell for $500 on eBarf. It's hard to sell the complete bike, typically. The parts look OK, however, but well-used.

there was one in seattle in my size for $300 and I still wasn't tempted. Great looking bikes though!

These were re-badged Aluminum Alans.
I guess Alan saw Vitus selling 979s to everyone who walked into their offices, so they did the same with Guerciotti. to expand market share(?).
The Guerciotti Alans do not seem to have as big a fan base as the steel Guerciottis and they seem to usually sell at lower than typical 80's Italian steel bike prices. Must be just a lingering distrust by Guerciotti fans with early bonded (and pinned with Alan's case) Aluminum frames.
I would not be surprised if the buyer of this bike would get it just to harvest the Guerciotti Pantograph components.

I really like it. Admittedely, I'm a fan of bonded frames and this one looks very fast and compact. Those bonded lugs look great IMHO, and it still looks modern some 25 years later. The pantographing is a real bonus and looks great to and I think it adds some real value. All Campy? Great condition? Low miles? I'm no expert but $600 doesn't sound to off-the-mark to me. I've seen Vitus framed bikes go for that and more...

I posted it because I loved the pantographing myself. Don't really know anything about the frames, other than it looks pretty. My feeling is it's priced too high, but then the CLers in town have a pretty high opinion of their bikes judging by the pricing I've seen this past year.
