Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - How I lost 100 pounds in four months

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I posted here four years ago looking for information about exercising with myasthenia gravis, with which I'd just been diagnosed. Got some useful advice, thanks, and I'd been doing well until July, when I slipped into a full-on myasthenic crisis.
Spent five weeks in ICU on a ventilator and later with a tracheotomy, then two months in three different rehab facilities, with a feeding tube for half of it, then eating hospital food. I had to learn how to walk again (still using a walker) and to dress myself and get on the toilet.
The sole up side of this is that I weighed 277 on July 1, and this morning I tipped the digital at 177.4. I'm 6'4", and my doctor has put me on the bleu cheese and ice cream diet until I get up to 195-200
Oh, and the bills are closing in on $700,000. Ask me if we need a national health care system.

That is some expensive ice cream... but better to be complaining about that than not... if you know what I mean.

If that's how I need to lose weight... I'll stay fat!

Dude, that sucks. I'm happy to hear you're still fighting. Get well, and eventually, back on a bike!

Glad you're still with us, even if there is less of you.

God's best to you on your recovery and future better health. Last December I endo'd and spent 9 days in ICU, lost 35 pounds in 90 days. Sadly I have gained it all back.

Take care of yourself and your new "figure." As for the national health care system, well, I guess that is why we have P&R. My deductibles would have bought me a top of the line Pinarello. That hurt.

Nhc systems add alot to your taxes and then theres the long waits, and things they dont treat you for. Either system you end up paying for in some form or fashion. Both have advantages and disadvantages but the main thing is youre still here everything else is secondary. So get better and ride some more and get out of here till youre back over 200 :p but seriously hope you get better and always welcome :)
