hi there,

i've just finished a build for my friend and am only now curious about the model and year of this frame. The serial NP6075953 suggests it is a Nottingham build from, i'm guessing, '66, since it has the threaded boss on the right fork blade and wrap around seat stays.

anyhow, i've grown fond of this frame because of the details which you just don't see nowadays. And I think this probably was even a low end bike back in the day.

some original parts were steel stem and drop bars, weinmann vanqueur 999 centerpulls, 27" wheels w/ low flange normandy flip flop hub and 10sp. gearing.

on to the pics:

Unfortunately I can't give much in the way of advice. I will say great looking bike! Love what you did with it and it bet it rides great.

Here's a link (http://www.jaysmarine.com/TH_raleigh_catdata.html) to several Raleigh catalogues hosted by Cudak (poster here) a good place to start searching.

Details are similar to the early 60's Grand Sport. '61-'63 era.

thanks sauze! it rides remarkably well. i love the geometry on 60s and 70s frames built for 27" wheels!

some other specs perhaps worth mentioning are: 25,2 seattube and 74mm BB shell. the downtube decals were very 70s, with Raleigh in block letters (like say a 70s Super Course MKII) as opposed to the script transfers found on the 60s models.

Lugs, paint color, pump pegs, fork mounted lamp boss all scream early 60's Raleigh.

My '62 Gran Sport.
It's not a GS, but it could be a euro market version of the '64 Record.

wow, very attractive bike there! Raleigh simply had some of the best colors! thanks for posting that pic. i see we have the same cranks. i'm trying to find out the manufacturer. were those Raleigh's own? I can make out lightly the letters RI stamped on the front, and the back has 6B N stamped in.
