Southeast - Orlando Florida Area Information?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I will be moving back to the Orlando area (Oviedo) at the start of next year. It has been 30 years since I rode in that area....has anybody got links to local Cycling groups/ paths/ etc?
I'd like to find some sort of Bike Paths to ride on so I can include my wife, as she is shy of traffic. Currently we are in SoCal and spoiled because of things like the SART. Is there anything like that in East Orlando/ Central Florida?
Any good local bike shops? I prefer Roadies with a lean towards Touring at this point in life. Have a 29er for messing around on also.
Thanks!
Be prepared for a shock. You won't recognize Oviedo.

The Cross Seminole trail starts in Oviedo and with a very short section of road riding you can ride all the way to Altamonte Springs via the connector and the Seminole Wekiva Trail. Going south from Oviedo there is a gap in the trail and then connects to the Cady Way Trail. I suggest that you join the Florida Freewheelers (my club) we have lots of good rides at all levels (A,B,C, Social, and Touring) on road and trail.

Thanks for all the information so far! I believe I have seen the Seminole Wekiva Trail, but didn't realize it was Bike Friendly.
Yes- Oviedo has changed a great deal. I have been back a few times in the last year to care for my Father and his failing health. On the bright side, I have reconnected with many old friends through FB over the last two years and have a number of folks glad to see me back in the area.
I'm hoping the Florida enviroment will be more comfortable for my Wife to ride in, so I can get here more involved with cycling....
