I know, the thing is a tank! I knocked 10 pounds off it by going fixed but it's still a tank, I love my tank!

Really, though...that's a good deal on that Masi. :thumb:

If I remember correctly, MSRP for the Fixed Ultimate was somewhere around $1200.

Man, what is your inseam measurement? That saddle is WAY up there, and that is NOT a small frame by any means!,,,,BD

krustyone
11-19-11, 05:36 PM
30", to which bike are you referring?

Scrodzilla
11-19-11, 05:51 PM
I'm 99% certain Bikedued is asking about your actual inseam, not your jeans inseam.

krustyone
11-19-11, 05:56 PM
Ha, good point, I don't know how to officially do that but from my crotch to the bottom of my foot is 32"...

Bikedued
11-19-11, 06:04 PM
Then there's no possible way you ride that 25 inch Schwinn, not with that saddle height anyway?,,,,BD

krustyone
11-19-11, 06:10 PM
This is it finished, does the saddle look lower?

So what gives? You have got a 32 inseam, correct? I know for a fact that size frame measures 25 inches along the seat tube. That leaves 7 inches of inseam left over. the cranks are at least that long by themselves from the pedal to the center of the crank. Then you have your four inches of seatpost +/-, then another two inches of saddle +/-. The numbers don't add up, unless you're seriously tiptoed while riding it? Not to mention it is grossly misadjusted with the nose of the saddle that high. I am not saying it's not a cool bike, but?,,,,BD

For reference, a properly adjusted Concor saddle.....

I don't know, it rides comfortably. Here is a different angle of the stable, do the rest look off?

As for the seat, you can see they are all like that, it feels best that way. The only possible explanation I have come up with is the nut I lost a few years back...:roflmao:

I made 130 miles, my longest ride so far, on the CrossCheck and it was all good.
Apologies if it bugs you but it works for me. As far as your math, I get it but I never really measured everything and just adjusted everything from my fit.

the most obvious thing that pops out at me is the color scheme. wayyy to bright and flashy.

and that saddle is way too far forward

The clamp is turned backwards, that's why it looks too far forward.,,,,BD

I was going for bright and flashy, so I guess I pulled that off.
My only excuse on the seat is that the bike is too big and that worked...

Looks great, super busy background again though, hehe. I do have one more question about your fitting? Are your toes pointed like you're walking on tip toes, at the bottom of the pedal stroke? If so, then you need to lower your saddle drastically.,,,,BD

Thanks! I was a bit too chill to get a pic by the garage, I has dressed for 40's but it never got out of the mid 30's and windy.

I know that is what it looks like but it is right, bottom of the stroke knee bent about 15*.

Bikedued
11-27-11, 02:28 PM
Measure either side, crank arm down and at the same angle as the seat tube.. From the center of the pedal bearings, up to the top of the saddle? tell me what you get. You can have your knee bent, and still be pointing your toes. At the bottom of the pedal stroke, your shoe should almost be level, with the heel only slightly elevated.,,,,BD

Unless you're measuring your inseam length wrong? I figured the cranks at 175mm, and the frame is a 58cm, correct? That would leave the top of the saddle about three inches above the top tube, if you truly have a 32 inch inseam? I am guessing you have more like a 36 or better to even reach the pedals with the saddle that high?

That saddle would be borderline too high for me, and I'm 6'1"... I ride a frame two cm's larger than that, and of course the saddle to bar height is a little less extreme.

krustyone
11-27-11, 06:40 PM
OK, I get 31" crank to seat and 37" pedal(at bottom of stroke)to seat same as my road bike then I measured from the ground to my crotch and got 32". Agreed it doesn't make sense but my foot is flat when I pedal. My road bike is a 56 and the Masi is a 58, I am 6'2". I had the road bike fit at the LBS.

But yeah, the Masi does look classy man. I would instantly flip that rear wheel, make it an SS, not FG. But good find.

Someday, it took me 5 years to get her to let me get rid of satellite and she got her first bike this year so there may be hope!

That is funny, to each their own I suppose.
