I just received my GC3 grips that are "GripShift Compatible" and want to put them on my folder touring bike with "straight" handlebars.

As the support "shelf" on the grips must be oriented at an angle to provide support for my palms, it would seem to me that the angle must be fixed - as in constant.

I don't see how to do that as the grips just seem to be slip-ons. The allen screw is at the lateral part (ie the outside) of the grips and seem to only adjust the angle of the bar end.

How to I "fix" the grip to the handlebar so the orientation of the support shelf remains constant?

TIA

That screw works to position both.

OOOpppps! Forget it folks. The end with the allen screw is recessed to fit the end of the handlebar. Figured that out by inserting a pencil to see how far it goes and then looking at the outside. The allen screw tightens the lateral part of the grip as well as "fixing" its position and the position of the bar wrt the grip.

tmac: Those Ergon grips are sometimes a pretty tight fit; I usually have to resort to a rubber mallet to drive them far enough onto the handlebar for the clamping screw mechanism to fully engage the bar, even with the screw fully loose.

Congrats on your choice of Ergon grips. I have GR or GC grips on all my flat bars and have nothing but praise for them.

If the GC3 set prove to be as good as predicted I will buy/encourage my 2 sons to get Ergon grips too.
