Ok so I found two bikes in my parents attic. I am not looking for how much they are. I really would like to know more about them to be honest. I mean knowing how much they are worth is a bonus but I am really here to find some info out about them from you guys. They both look like they could use some TLC and need new tires. I found out some info on the one but the second one I can not find ANYTHING on it. I am not even sure of what year they were made or how old they really are.

First Bike: Green Schwinn Tiger. Sturmey Archer 3 speed. Looks to be the original paint. It is missing its seat but other than that it looks like everything is there. the brake lines and all. Again I don't know a lot about it so it could be missing some other things. I have seen some with a light kit on it and some without so I don't know if that came with the bike or not. I believe this is a Men's Bike.

Second Bike: Blue made in Holland by Batavus "Aristocrat" Design by Scheuer - New York. Also a Sturmey Archer 3 speed (England). This is the Bike I can not find anything about. All the above info is just the printing on the bike whether it is painted or on a metal patch of some sort. This also looks to be original paint and doesn't look to be missing a whole lot. This one does have the seat and I believe is a Woman's bike. Other than that I have no clue.

I have attached pictures of both Bikes to try and give you a better idea of the shape they are in and what they look like. I really appreciate any info you may have on these. Thanks! :)227891227892227893227894227895227896227897227898227899227900227901227902

I believe that the green Schwinn Tiger is from the early 60's. Made in Chicago, Illinois by Schwinn. The purple/blue Batavus looks to be from around that same time period.

You can date each bike by the date code stamped on top of the three speed hub. The numbers 10 64 would indicate a hub made in October of 1964. The bike was probaby a 1965 because it was a late hub. The serial number on the schwinn can be googled. The blue bike is a well made stylish early mixte.

Ok cool thanks. I was not aware of how that worked. I will check it out. Yeah the Blue Bike was really the one I was trying to get some more info on. I googled it a bunch and didn't find a whole lot on it. Thanks for the couple replies I did get.

Ya gotta love them Sturmey Archer hubs aye social? One of those was the only was I was able to identify a 1953 Armstrong that I came into.
It's amazing how well they clean up This one looked just as black with caked on grease as the blue bikes does.
Look how clean it came out It has an oilier hole...
I'm in love with your green Schwinn.

Good find on the Batavus, I just aquired a 'free' Batavus and have been updating it. Mine is a folder, not sure of the date, but now that I read the hub marking trick, I will soon know. My rear hub is the 2 speed, torpedo duomatic kick back model. I say free;
$50.00 new tires & tubes
$15.00 new bars
$12.00 new BMX grips.
The Batavus is a Holland made bike, they are still in business and have a website but, if you reside in the United States, no luck, there is a embargo with them ( Ne229820therlands ), but you should be ok.
Is your chainguard the type that the bottom bracket must be removed to take it off? Mine was, I left it off.229819

The Schwinn will have a serial number on the side of the headtube or on the left rear dropout.
You can look up that number on my site under the ‘Technical Resources’ tab.

Thanks Guys for all the comments and info. Its helping me fig. out more on these. Thanks ontopcop.. The Folding Bike was all I was able to really find out on the Batavus when I was first doing some research.. The more I look into it the more I am finding that it is a pretty good find! I thought for sure the Schwinn would be worth a lot more and be the better of the two but they are both really cool. Thanks again guys!
