Hi All,

I came across this movie on Netflix.

Ride the Divide (2010)
82 min - Documentary | Adventure | Sport - 15 April 2010 (USA)

A small group of adventurous mountain bikers attempt to race the longest mountain bike route in the world traversing over 2700 miles along the Rocky Mountains from Banff, Canada to the Mexican border.

IMDB - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1530991/

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit, and thought some of you might as well.

Yep, I watched it a few months ago. It was part of my five-year goals - to race it in 2015. I've now since re-evaluated that decision and it's on hold.

Forget racing it, it would be awesome just to be able to ride it.

That's what I'm thinking now.

If I lost 60 pounds and had the money/time I would love to just tour that route once as well.

I would not imagine personally being able to do this trip in less than 6 weeks.

Though maybe after that kind of weight loss I might surprise myself.

One of the best movies I've seen in a while. The scenery was great. I'd love to make this ride. Interviews with the riders were very powerful. The producers did a good job capturing the emotions of the riders. I may have to go watch it again. I'll have to resist the urge to run out and buy a 29er again.

I went and saw the movie with a friend of mine who rode the whole thing back in '05. She did a good part of it solo with friends meeting her along the way to ride with her for a week or two. I rode the first 8 days with her, from the Canadian border to Orvando MT. We had a great time watching the movie, remembering all the wonderful things we saw.

I saw it and liked it well enough. In retrospect, it should have been called "Mary's ride" as they focused so much on her. I thought they were very lax in balancing the focus to all the riders rather than just the four or so they talked to and concentrated on. The guys that all shared 3rd place were hardly mentioned more than in passing.
