We received our new Calfee Tetra frame and fork the later part of May (2011) and have now ridden it right at 2600 miles. The 2600 miles have all been smiles! We are still totally thrilled with the bike and have not had any issues at all, it has performed perfectly.

Since the original build I have made a few changes.

Updated the stoker bars to Profile carbon bars.
Replaced the Ultegra brakes with Dura Ace brakes.
Replaced the Bontrager cf bottle cages with Arundel cages.
Replaced the Bontrager tandem wheels with Topolino Tandem wheels. The Topolino's now have 900 miles on them and have been completely perfect. They are still extremely comfortable and we would not want to go back to anything else. Our average speed has gone up around .5 mph.
Installed a Dionette r300 rear taillight.

I do intend to replace the cranks eventually, the front is an FSA Gossamer and the rear is an FSA SLK. I want to eventually have matched cranks. If things work out we will be trying a set of the new Ultegra cranks in a month or so. If that does not work I am leaning towards a set of Lightning cranks.

The total weight with pedals and bottle cages is 27.65 pounds. This is with the computers, tool bag, mirrors, and lights removed.

Carbon fiber provides an amazing ride.
We own a Zona c/f tandem for several years and currently have 33,000+ miles on the odo.
Yeah, we are still smiling TWOgether!

We picked up our Calfee in April 2010, and we have ridden over 4,300 miles. I agree with your assessment - it is a wonderful bike, worth every penny. Our bike was built up with the Profile stoker bars (stoker Karen loves them), and with Dura-Ace brakes. We moved our Bontrager wheels from our Co-Motion to the Calfee. We have daVinci cranks, and have been very satisfied with them.

We had 23,000 wonderful miles on our Co-Motion Speedster when we made the switch - it was a great bike, and our first tandem. But we love the ride quality, comfort and handling of the Calfee - it is really something special.

Your post prompted me to check our mileage. We bought our Calfee late last summer, and stored it for several months until we allowed ourselves to "unwrap" it on our wedding day. We now have ridden it 2,257 miles and agree that it is an amazing ride. I don't think we've made any changes to the original build, although I have some stoker pegs that I need to install when I'm ready to rewrap the handlebars.

But we still ride our awesome Co-Motion Primera Co-Pilot more ... in 2011 it has 4,694 miles (and we will be adding more in December). We do brevets and self supported tours on the Co-Motion; thus, the greater miles.
