im in the market for some new rims for my ss cross race rig (its also my commuter). i currently have deep v's on paul high flange hubs, and they have been awesome for 5 years. but it turns out EVERY nipple is seized, so the wheels are shot. it also happens that i have a box of dt revolutions spokes sitting around (ordered the wrong size). all i need is rims. but im limited to the size that fits my spoke/hub combo. i need something with a 604-606 erd rim.

im looking at salsa delgado cross, ird cadence, mavic open pro, mavic open sport, velocity aerohead rims. I generally build with DT rims but am wondering if any cx people have any experience. the deep v's are awesome but id like something lighter and maybe with eyelets, so the nipples dont seize. im leaning towards open sports, delgados, or ird (in that order). any advice? can the super light IRD rims stand up to cx racing and commuting? im a decent wheelbuilder so im not worried about that. Thanks.

I like mavic the best out of your list, classic light strong and dependable. Stay away from IRD, I've built a set when I was a wheel builder at a shop and hated them, flimsy and difficult to build on. The Delgados are strong but if I remember correctly their a bit heavier than open pros.

thanks. i think its between open sports or delgado, simply because of the price. the delgados are about 70 grams heavier but they do have a nice 22.5mm width which may be nice for cross. any opinion?
