I was wondering if you guys could help me identify this frame. This is what I believe I have deciphered thus far. Late 70's-Early 80's Raleigh Grand Prix. Does this seem accurate? Anyone able to tell the exact year?

I was also wondering if there was any way to tell whether it was out of Nottingham or one of the other Raleigh shops? I've googled for a few days now, and all I could seem so come up with was that retroraleighs site, but 'twas no help. Thanks in advance, I'm really enjoying everything I am learning on these threads.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been spending all my time on the SS forum so I didn't even think of that haha

yeah come on over, I'm not sure how much identification you're really going to get though with pretty much all the markings/headbadge gone but if anyone can solve it it's our C&V gurus.

I know, right? I bought it a few years ago, not knowing much about bikes. Thinking now it may have been stolen :/

But I'm getting the frame powdercoated and trying to make it a decent build nonetheless.

Have you tried IDing via the serial on the BB?

Wowwww, no I hadn't. Thanks for that tip, it answered every question I had haha.

Raleigh built in Worksop/Nottingham, in Feb of 1974.

Awesome.

It's all good my first project/info bike was a 72 raleigh sports. and it needed a LOT of work.. was pretty much a nightmare.

This was not too much of a nightmare until I went at it with some ****ty lacquer thinner (as you can see from the weird flaked/melted paint).
I just decided to take it to a local powder-coating place.

Got any pictures of the 72?
