I had a c. 1984 RX5 that I flipped and it was an extremely well made dbl butted Chromo bike - I only wish it was larger and had the Suntour equipment of it's RX4 straight-gauged little brother. These mid-eighties bikes were not high end, but they ride well, and the paint and finish was impeccable. (I still have one Maruishi in my stable - a TA18 tour-ace, with the gold kangaroos.)

Maruishi made some very nice bikes indeed. It's a name that few people know about though. :(

It is a nice bicycle, and it makes a great commuter. I've been considering upgrading it with 700c wheels. However, there are bike shops that still sell 27 - inch wheels. I continue to ponder this issue.

Maruishi also made bicycles for Lotus.

I hope you are right. I just found (it found me?) what appears to
be a Record in the coral pink color on that catalog link you posted.

Certainly it appears to be very well made and finished, and my
current favorite ride affair of the heart is a Japanese made Bianchi
made from the same Ishiwata 022 tubing and with very similar
geometry. If this one performs on a par I will be very pleased.

Their relative anonymity seems to keep the prices low, but
one wonders how many are lost to fixedness and worse fates
because of it.:(

Question regarding the Maruishi RX - 4 Sport road bicycle:
I have a Maruishi RX - 4 Sport road bicycle, and I am pondering the idea of touring with my Maruishi RX - 4 Sport road bicycle, or my vintage Univega MTB. Any insight from those on Bike Forums would be appreciated.
