Yeah I did my first century on Saturday and I did my first official 5K distance today.

The weather was a little cold, the course had hills which I haven't really run on, and it had mud. I got my shoes muddy and they are NEW!!!

I have done longer distances 4.2 or 4.4 miles but that was a stairclimb integrated over the course as well (Bisbee 1000), but never an official 5k. It was a good day to be out, but I definitely had some issues. I kept my pace up faster than I typically run on the treadmill. I think that as far as training goes, I need to run outside more. Running on the pavement/trails/ground is definitely much harder than running on the treadmill.

Below is the link to the run using my Timex Run Trainer

Hopefully I'll get into 10k and beyond soon. I thought about registering for a triathlon either Olympic distance or maybe a Half Ironman. I think I'd need to do some serious training.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got to spend time with their family, friends, and loved ones! :)

Any of you guys do triathlons or distance running of any sort?

Congratsabout the 5k. Conquering hills and mud just makes you more awesome. Bummer about the shoes though. Think of it less as dirt and more as your shoes' battle scars. ;)

Congrats. I do some triathlons (though not as often as I'd like). So far only sprint distance, but hoping to do some longer ones next season.
