Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Inoled Headlamp, super nice LED headlamp, now need dynamo for it?

I just received from a good friend what I think is one of the nicest gifts that anyone can get a bicyclist. An inoled headlamp.

It runs on 6 volts. Can anyone suggest a good dynamo that is available here in the US, that will do it justice but not break the bank?

I want the spring-loaded kind that attach to the side of the wheel and can be activated when you need it. Doesn't have to be fancy, just reliable. Price is important.

I'm trying to strike an appropriate balance - tight budget right now, but this is a really nice gift. I want it to work right.

Its okay if it increases rolling resistance as long as it doesn't make some really loud, annoying noise or crap out on me on some dark road at night. Water-proof or highly water resistant is also a plus.

I vote for putting in a little more money and getting the Shimano 3n71 or 3n80 for lower drag.:thumb:

I like the dymotech a lot. You can adjust the tension, and I've never had a problem in the rain after I've increased the tension a little. And I haven't noticed any tire wear and the noise isn't bad. I also have a couple of basta quattros and the one from velo-orange. The wheel on the basta is showing some wear on one of the bikes--I put an o-ring around it, and I haven't had the velo-orange one long enough to say anything about it.

The Dymotech 6 is in my price range. Is that the one you have, and is it just a finger adjustment? That is a big plus.

The velo-orange dynamo is the Spanninga Wave Bottle, quite affordable. When you have more experience with it, Id love to hear more. Is it solid feeling?

I don't ride in the rain often, but I do like to ride at night.

$92 is too much for me right now for something I wouldn't use that often. But that definitely is the way to go.

If I can get my wife interested in cycling, then I'll be taking more long rides, then I can start thinking about stuff like that.

That looks nice.. Except that my wheels are the wrong size, sort of, 27 x 1 1/2.. Is an old Raleigh Grand Prix.. (although Ive heard that its so close that the upgrade to 700c works well on my size bike)

So, eventually I do want to go to a 700c wheel size, and when I do I am definiely going to go with a dynamo hub.. but as I just bought new Panela Kevlar tires, it won't be for a while..(hopefully)

Another vote for Yellow Jersey. Phone them and ask for an inexpensive bottle dynamo.
