I haven't been on here since Spring. I started out the season strong after purchasing a new bicycle, and gearing up. I had previously lost 100 lbs and was ready to take the next step so spent $2000 on a bike, wheel set and clothing and started riding again...

Then.... Stuff happens. Spent most of the summer on disability from work (not cycling related). Severe stomach bacteria infection, newly discovered food allergies, and just generally felt like crap. Didn't ride or exercise, and started eating poorly again.

Just bought a trainer Friday and now I'm ready to start hitting it hard again in hopes of being prepared to put on lots of miles come spring.

Stuff is going to happen. Its the getting back to it that is important - good luck.

You can get back there. It's just like riding a bicycle. :-)

Seriously, welcome back.

If it's any encouragement, my experience has been that when I've been out of it for a while, I have all sorts of health issues like colds, flus, stomach/digestion, etc. Getting back in the saddle and working out has kept me overall, a lot healthier. Spin on!

I have to agree with this. From my experience I tend to have health issues when I'm out of the saddle for a while too. From April to July of this year, I too was out due to a inguinal hernia surgery. It sucked and thought I was going to go crazy being off of my bike for so long. Once back on, I wasn't the same as before, and even now, I am still not back to where I was before the surgery. I ride 4-5 days a week and it's still a struggle. However, I do see the improvement in my overall condition every week. You're on the right track. Just don't let it get you down if it seems harder than before. Your body and mind will thank you for it.

Getting back on the bike is most always a good,
though sometimes painful
choice.
Sometimes,
the bike is our best friend,
sometimes,
our noble adversary.

I'm coming back from neck and back injuries. I crashed bad in August and had my back fused for T7-12 vertebra... My bike is on my trainer and I'm doing 15 minutes ata time as my back allows.

You can do it. Good luck!
