After days of moving and cleaning I've reach the point where I just say "screw it!". I'm tired as hell and if there is one little hole that needs putty, owner can fix it and charge me for it. I'm done with this.

Did you remember to take the Hyundai starter out of the oven? If not, you know they will keep it and fine you for not cleaning the oven.

Did you remember to take the Hyundai starter out of the oven? If not, you know they will keep it and fine you for not cleaning the oven.
When we rented a house many moons ago, there was a whole pile of car parts (motor heads, brake discs & drums, heavy stuff like that) behind the house from the previous tenant. The owner said he would clean it up. After a couple of months it was still there, so on garbage night (we had a private trash collection service- if you could get it in a 33 gal bag, they would take it), I carried all the stuff up to the curb and set it into bags. I then sent my rent check in minus $50 and told him I was billing him for having to move the stuff myself. His response? "Okay, thanks for documenting it." After that, whenever we were short of money for the month, I'd fix something in the house and bill the landlord for my time. As long as I gave him documentation of what I did, store receipts, and how much my time was worth, he would accept checks for the rent that had those amounts deducted. He just wanted records for his taxes.
He was an absentee landlord, mostly, but he was cool about me doing the repairs and billing him. When we moved out, he said we were the best tenants he'd ever had.
