About halfway into the ride the team came up on a local rider out doing some single-speed work. As shocked as he must have been to be overtaken by the fellas, he jumped right onto the back of the paceline and spun away, really, really turning the RPMs as they descended down the rolling hills at well over 30 mph. He hung on for about 10 miles before the team headed off in another direction, but I am sure he now has some excellent stories to tell his friends after today...
