Cyclocross - Is this the ugliest cross bike you've ever seen?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sure it needs some TLC, but there are some high priced gaudy modern bikes on this forum that I would consider much uglier.

I think this bike is owned by a crosser here in Chicago. If not, then there is more than 1 of those ugly ass bikes out there.

Shockingly, that color scheme is one of the stock options from Specialized. Even more shocklingly, they don't call it "clown bike colors."

Paolo will tell you a cool story about that color scheme - ask him at the next CX race. Specialized have sold a couple hundred of those, I believe.

I hope you don't really think Portland could possibly excuse that, that thing. Washington DC would explain it, it does look a bike some sub-committee would design to help ease bike path congestion.

Well, Portland might not excuse it, but it definitely explains it. I mean, we have a unicycle category at our CX races. The guy on the pink Raleigh is a Portlander too. You don't even want to see the picture of him racing in a thong.

Uh, hell no. Nice classic built that I would be proud to rebuild and ride daily.

I love Portland!! I have all 'normal' bikes, but love freak bike rides and MMR, you'll never see more crazy folks and bikes. Average is boring, nicer looking but boring.

If all bikes looked the same or similar, the saying, variety is the spice of life, would have no place in ours. I dig the kid bike with unwrapped drop bars. I'd never race it, but it is good for a laugh.

I'll buy the one in the pink dress a beer!!!

Cheers! :)

This is what a nice Bernard Carre looks like. The photo you referenced is a beat frameset. I'm sure it looked nice in it's day.

NWCX is nicely situated in sillyville.... sigh ... us New Englanders are so up tight. Those Specialized abortions are limited and there were a few this past season on course ... nice bike terrible paint scheme.

The Specialized is great looking in person. Guy I ride with has one in that scheme, I have a white grey and red disc brake version but the pink tape on that one needs to go!
