I just have to ask. What are Tylers' chances of riding in the 2005 tour. If he does ride? What team? Team Hamilton?... when is the TDF team invitations finalized? Lots of questions... just help me out here... When lance is gone.. I need a new favorite American.... This Hamilton fiasco is driving me crazy.

Don't expect Tyler to be around after Lance is gone. They're both approximately the same age. Lance has at least two (good?) years in him before he settles down.

ummmm you ever heard of George, Floyd, Freddie & levi??...all are big enough as 'racers' that all race fans will know exactly who they are without needing surnames.....believe it or not the US does have some other great riders than just Lance. check 'em out...you might learn something. Tyler will retire when he gets rubbed out in january

I believe that Floyd, George and Levi are all over 30 though so, we still need the next American cyclyst. I don't really know about Freddie, of course we also need television coverage.
I'm sorry but Tylers career is going nowhere fast. No sponsor is going to touch an athlete with all the stuff that's been going on with Tyler this year. Sad but probably true.
CHEERS.

Basically what he said, If Tyler gets a 2 year ban thats going to be the end of his career.
I wouldn’t expect to see Tyler at any races this year.

After a 2 year ban, Tyler could still race for years. He may be not be a contender for the Grand Tours, but I think he will always find a job if he wants one.
He gets his fair share of podiums...

Well, Hamilton is one of those riders who seems to be coming to best form in their early thirties. Maybe he still has some years in him?
Probably won't have the desire to keep racing though. Ekimov is a rare exception to most cyclists.

Yes I'm familiar with Mr. Hincapie, Landis, Leipheimer, thanks. I was just gunning for Hamilton.

Tom Danielson maybe?
Yah i have to say that tyle is done for. I really never liked him in the first place. Anyway i think tom danielson is a really good rider and he will have a good career with postal/discovery. Thats my view on the situation. :)
Why does it have to be an American who races more in Europe or is considered a "bigger" name? I've always liked Chris Horner. Of course, he's going back to Europe in 2005!

As far as up and coming American cyclists are concerned, what's Danny Pate doing in 2005? US or Europe? He's got potential.

He has been back in the USA for a while now, rode with HealthNet last year. He signed with JellyBelly this year. I think he has kind of dropped off the radar since his solid 2001/2002 seasons.
Danielson has a chance, I'm not sure he has the raw wattage for time-trialing in Europe but the guy can climb like scalded cat. I think we're gonna have a few year wait before we see another American being a serious GC rider or threat in any of the major UCI calendar races

I am very new to racing, but isn't tyler hamilton promoting some sort of charity showing of the TDF in large movie theatres across the US this year? When do we know about a possible ban?

The Tour de France showing was a live broadcast of one of the stages in the Pyrenees last year (Plateau de Beille maybe?). If I remember correctly, it was to help raise money for the Tyler Hamilton Foundation that benefits MS patients and helps to promote junior racing.
There's also a new movie due out in '05 in IMAX theaters. I'm pretty sure it's called "Brain Power". That footage was shot mostly during the '03 Tour de France, with a little extra done in '04.
As far as the ban is concerned, I think his appeal is due to be reviewed in January, but I haven't heard any specific date. Tyler's going to have to pull an awfully big rabbit out of the hat to get around this one, I'm afraid.

Assuming the IOC doesn't ultimately pull it...
