The guy at the local bike shop said I could use a 27" tube in my hybrid tire. Its a 700 x 35c

Tubes don't really matter between 27" and 700C. They expand to fit the space.

Yep, a lot of 29er riders use 26" tubes and a lot of 36" riders (unicycle guys) use 29" tubes. They can expand quite a bit.

A lot of the 700c tubes I buy are marked 27"/700c

Mine too.

Now, before someone misinterprets this, we are referring to tubes only. 700c and 27" tires do not interchange.

Yep! I used to run the same tube in the same sized wheel- you're good.

Just make sure the valve stems are compatable. A lot of 27 inch tubes have schrader valves, while 700c wheels typically have presta, which have a smaller hole.

I put presta valves in schrader drilled rims all the time, no problemo. Some people experience gashed tubes around the valve. If that happens, they make grommets to fit the holes.
