If is still there I can't find it. I'm going on roadtrip to middleofnowhere Georgia where I'm sure there won't me any data connectivity. I have navdroyd as backup but I would really like to use google maps while there.

Checked settings on my HTC Incredible. There is a setting for automatic caching. Default if charging or on wifi. Is this what you are talking about?

Kinda... I just found it. It is still there you just have to enable it for it to work.

On Options, go to lab and enable pre-cache option. Then while on the map, long click on an area, then click on the buble and chose pre-cache to cache that tile. I believe tiles are 10mi x 10mi.

Still have an issue, it doesn't let you choose the SD card to store pre-cached data which severely limit how many tiles you can store on the phone (I can only have one). I cached the area of GA where I'm going and I guess I'll use navdroid for other areas when data is not available.
