Folding Bikes - Thor is the man!

I was missing these 'handlbar locator rings' from Speed D7 I had bought locally used.

E-mailed Dahon and they forwarded my e-mail it to another department....never heard from them again...just like another e-mail I had sent months back.

Just for the hell of it I e-mailed Thor on Nov 19 just to find out what they were called so I could get someone here in Canada to order them. Got a reply on the 21st with what they were and asked for my address to see what he could do.

I have to say, Thor is the model example of how to use 'social media' as a small business.

If I ever need anything that Thor stocks, I will definitely be getting it from him -- solely based on his activities on this forum.

He should give a seminar. He'd probably make more money than he does selling bikes :)

I wonder if Thor has the parts necessary to convert my Dahon Speed D7 into a triple. As you can see in the picture below I put the triple crankset on already, but the design of the rear derailleur causes the chain to sag if I put it on the small chainring by hand. I had to compromise and shorten the chain and put it on the middle ring permanently. This makes climbing easier but now I have no top end.

I would like to put a front derailleur on too if possible.

I bought a Bike Friday just so I could have super-low climbing gears, but if there is a way to convert this bike to a triple it would make a nice back-up bike.

nope .. no tripple ... double maybe .. the speed adapter should work on a boardwalk.... or maybe just needs a coke shim to stay put.... but even with the supplied bottom bracket spacer there is VERY little room to swing towards the smaller ring .... Not by a landslide a tripple will work ...lol

On my Dahon Mu SL, I have a double chain ring setup (48T/39T) for light loaded touring and (53T/48T) for road riding mated to a 11-32T cassette and my X9 derailleur seemed to take it well with no chain sag. I am suspecting your Neos derailleur setup inability to take up chain slack. Doesn't Thor sell a derailleur hanger that converts Neos bikes into a normal derailleur bike? That way, you can have a low/mid gear and then a high gear etc..

Then buy his front derailleur adapter for Speed and you can switch between the two.

+1. that is one thing i can't understand with Dahon USA. you can even buy more dahon parts/spare parts in europe than here in usa to think that Dahon is an american company. there is something wrong here. if not for Thor's support we're in deep trouble. THOR - you're the MAN...

Sounds like I may be the only one (and not take away from Thorsten's good deed) but I've gotten good parts/spares service from DaHon North America, Inc.

I needed some 16" PV tubes and those white plastic cube shaped bits (part of the QR on the steering tube interface on my Curve SL), and I received them within a few days at a reasonable price. So . . . no issues here!
