Hi!

I'm looking for a folding bike suitable for winter conditions and currently I want to buy dahon cadenza xl.
Does anyone use it in winter? Particularly, is it possible to install knobby spiked tyres (like nokian wxc300) and mudguards? (judging by the pictures, the clearance between stock slick tyre and front fork is quite small)

I have used my Cadenza 8 for 3 winters. Last year I fitted DIY studded tyres and there was plenty of clearance. I hardly ever fold the bike and wouldn't recommend it in a crowded commuter train but if the Lockjaw fold is sufficient, its a nice ride.

Great, thank you for info.

My commute is 'single-mode' - I need folder just to minimize occupied space in office.
Hope that LockJaw hinge survives every day folding.

You do need to understand the adjustment on the lockjaw. I rounded out the hex of the eccentric locking bolt after several years so had to replace it. Spares kits are available and seem to be better quality than the original and replacement was very easy.

Yes, lockjaw adjustment is another concern. There are many reports of unexpectedly folding/creaking/failing in some other way hinges on the web. But I've decided to give it try =)

Does the spare kit include the whole hinge? Is it possible to renew it completely in case of messing up?
