Recreational & Family - Strobe light for kid's bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I want to put a bright flashing yellow strobe on my kid's bike, behind her attached to her seatpost, so that she is visible from the back and side. Then I'm going to put a forward-facing flasher on her handlebars.
What's a good strobe that comes with seatpost mounting hardware?
She'll be biking to school in 3rd grade next year. :)

you want red for the back. yellow is good for the sides but you would need three lights. http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=101&subcategory=1068&brand=&sku=12860&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename= this is about the best light right now as it has LEDS on each end.
you can get a liteman xenon strobe that is visible from the side in yellow. they cost about the same but you only get 5 hours at most on a set of batteries.

A high-visablitly helmet would be prudent during daylight hours.
Thanks for reminding me about that new Cateye... well, Nashbar has them for $25, I think that'll work. Sounds like it's just about like a strobe. I like the side-pointing LEDs.
My son rode to school starting in 3rd grade, he's in 7th now, and on a jr. racing team. His sister will follow proudly in his tire-tracks in August 2005, she's too young now.

get one of those neon light kits for the bike. it'll add to the 'cool factor' and to the 'safety factor', but im sure your kids would rather be cool then safe.

Safety isn't cool.
I get what you want to do, you want your kid, when she starts riding to blind her firends when she hsows off her bike. Pretty SWEET IDEA :p
