I bought my dear wife a used, but near mint, 2009 Redline Conquest Pro this summer so she could do some cyclocross racing. Well wouldn't you know, she was bitten by the racing bug. Now she wants lighter racing wheels for Christmas. Her bike has the stock Ritchey Pro wheelset. Since we want to be able to send our kids to college in a few year, I don't want to break the bank, but I want to get something that will be an improvement.
From what I can tell from searching the web, her wheels are nominally about 1800 grams for the set (I didn't weigh them). I found a Mavic Ksyrium Elite Wheelset 2009 on the Performance site for $399. They're nominally 1550 grams. Would this be a good set for her? Does anyone have any other ideas? I could go a little higher, but I really don't want to spend more on wheels than on the bike. She's pretty small (~5'4", 118 pounds ... or 62 cm, 53 kg)
