Alt Bike Culture - Custom Decal wrapping a frame

Obviously it can be done, anyone do it though? I've seen adhesive paperjobs.. can be done cool but not what I'm looking for here. Ideally I want to put together a theme skin for the bike, print it probably on sticky clear computer paper, then apply, then clear coat. Anyone done it this way? Any ideas for the process etc?

hi, i've laser printed my own designs onto decal paper, and laquered over it, not been a problem.
yours sounds a little larger scale ?
but the soaking of the paper, and sliding the decal off takes care, and the larger the design, the more problematic i would say !

I think I'm just gonna have to pull the trigger, dunno if I got time this weekend but I'll report back when done.

Yo RS, my parents own a sign shop in Union City. We print directly on vinyl that has a sticky backing. So the options are endless.

I'm currently looking into a turpentine based transfer and clear coating process... haven't had time to lay any physical ground work but am hunting the best option.

I was thinking of doing this to cover the white parts of my new carbon bike BUT how the hell would I know if there's a crack underneath the decal? What more if you covered your entire carbon bike with the decal? There's no possible way of you spotting a crack. If it's a car or a motocycle it's ok since it's usually metal. You would know if it's dented or not, but carbon can produce hairline cracks that's not visible until you really look at it carefully.

It can get dangerous imo.

Fret not, this thread is not in reference to a CF bike, but a steel one.

You replied in my thread going off about how dangerous it would be on a CF bike.. then think I'm getting bent out of shape when I tell you the bike it's happening to is steel without being rude about it? I'm confused here man...very confused.
