Had a good friend of the family pass away. When the family business was operating, he worked for the company for 18 years. On a summer day in 1984, me and my sister were outside playing in the yard and a large dog was approaching us, teeth showing, sister was old enough to know to get to out of harms way, I didn't and just before the dog got to me, he had sprinted from the company parking lot, and knocked the dog down. The dog ran off, which my father and uncle went and tracked down and captured the dog, which was turned in to animal control.
I'm eternally grateful to him for saving me, because it's entirely possible I wouldn't be here today or wouldn't be anywhere near the same if he didn't.
