I'm about to visit my LBS which said they've just rec'd the trek 100 and 200. How do the trek bikes compare to the Specialized for daily paved/rough road commuting? (the trek 100/200 and the Specialized Crossroads, for example)

Thanks

All major bike brands have similarly spcced bikes at almost simliar price ranges. Only wayt to find the biek to you is ride and keep test riding.

It doesnt matter what people say, you ride them and YOU will be the deciding factor, sure people can give opinion but those arent always right, catch my drift?

I agree with the previous posters.

Maybe ask the LBS if you can trade for one of the others if the one that you purchase doesn't work out, say after two weeks or so. Be upfront with them, & get to know them, they are more likely to work with you then.

Outside getting the actual bike you may want to see what the different LBS offer in terms of general selection, price and most importantly service. A bike is (hopefully for you) a lifetime investment and you'll want someone who will be there for you in most cases.

I tried both the Trek and Specialized hybrids. I went with the Specialized because the shop offered much better service, and seemed more interested in making me a happy customer. I know Trek makes great bikes, but the local dealer made me feel like I was wasting his valuable time by wanting to test ride a few different bikes. The Crossroads XC has been excellent for the roads and trails I use to get around. I recommend it without hesitation.
