Foo - Amazing Time Lapse Presentation

As some of you would know, I live in Japan and although there have been so many earthquakes this year, my city has been spared. This video shows the frequency the quakes 3 and over have hit Japan. It is in Japanese but if you move to 50 sec and play, you'll be amaized. Please be patient and wait for march 9, then the impact will be obvious.

It's interesting to see the frequency of earthquakes, when charted, changes after March to a much steeper slope as the new norm. It looks like you guys lived through hell in March.

I'd be interested to know how many of the earthquakes recorded surrounding Japan were felt on the mainland.

Most of those quakes you saw were / are felt quite strongly on the mainland of Japan. Particularly in Fukushima. Tokyo feels them just a little.

large earthquakes tend to cause multiple aftershocks as the earth gets new stress points which does not hold up to the pressure.

I understand the immediate time-frame after an earthquake experiences multiple aftershocks. I was referring to the last 3/4 of the year having an increased frequency of earthquakes. Perhaps these are still part of the aftershocks of the original March earthquake ??? I'm certainly no expert.

When I was making a video about earthquakes for the World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia, I realized that very frequently, earthquakes in Japan were answered by earthquakes in Chile. The entire pacific plate is getting pushed around.
