The inaugral 24 Hours of Pisgah was the 24 Hour race we all knew it could be. I knew how many prizes we had, but even I was shocked to see so much high quality swag being tossed out even after all the categories were presented with great prizes. That dosent count the $500 the first place male and female solo winners each got. we even gave prizes for fastest day lap, fastest night lap fastest 1st lap (male & female), fastest female lap got $100.
We also gave prizes throughout the night like a pair of Pearl Izumi shorts for the 1st female rider to come in after midnight. All prizes were as good and were for things like the next rider with fresh blood, or even the next rider with mud under the left eye and on and on. Then we gave clues for a sort of treasure hunt. As the race went on we gave more and more clues untill some one found the certificate redeamable at the transition area. The registration packet was amazing as well. Stuffed with a size and gender specific t-shirt, a 24 hours of pisgah pint glass and sticker, a yo yo a deck of cards, a Cliff Bar, a packet of E-mergen-C, an ink pen, a Blue Ridge Outdoors Mag., and flyers etc. This year will be even better. We have already secured many of the same sponsors as well as some really cool new ones. We continue our search for really usable swag. We know if you ride you have preferences for stuff so while we can't satisfy everyone we strive to give things you can use. Also the NUMBA was a bigger thing than I thought it would be.
We are working on a new website but the old one is active as well [URL=24hoursofpisgah.com]. Please watch Dirt Rag for a series of 3 full page full color ads next year (2005) Thanks to everyone who made the 24 Hours of Pisgah Mountain Bike race a sucess.
