So what's out there as far as long distance mountain bike races? I'm looking for an "adventure" type of race, preferably multi-day and self-supported. I've done a couple of kayak races along those lines and have got the bug to try something like that on a bike. Any ideas?

HOLY CRAP MULTI DAY

You lunatic! I'd like to do 100 miles one of these days and see how long it takes. I'm guessing about 9 hours or so

Macha, it depends on where you live, but in BC there is the Sea 2 summit stage race series. These races are 1-3 days long and are very well run. They are multi-discipline with paddling, trekking/runniing, Biking and some simple orienteering. They also run a race in Quebec and one in ontario. You can find them online at www.sea2summit.com

Good luck

Jeff

Wow, that Sea2Summit is a good link! I'll have to think about doing one of those races this year or next. It really helps me to have some kind of goal like that to get motivated to get out there and get in shape. It's also a great way to pack quite an adventure into a short vacation time period. Keep the links coming if you have any more...

I just looked at the Trans-Rockies site and that also looks very interesting, although a bit pricey (at least it's Canadian dollars). That's another one to shoot for. Thanks.
