When I bouht my Cycleops trainer I was given the "special skewer" that went with it. Do I need to use this or can I just use the regular one that comes witht the bike? I have it mounted up on the trainer now and it seems pretty sid bu I don't want to break anything. I seem to have misplaced my "special" one.
You can use any skewer but you will probably crush the plastic (non-metallic) parts. Go to a bike shop and buy another all metal skewer.

Yea, called the "L"BS as they are Cyclops dealers.
"Do you have the special skewers"?
"Yep, let me double check to make sure"
"Yep sure do"
Must have been shift change or something.
Feed the kids: check
Buy some X-Mass crap: check
Ride ten miles in the freezing cold to the "Local" Bike Shop: check
"Repeat phone conversation"
"Never heard of them, here this one is all metal it'll do fine."
Haven't got the chance to try it yet. I'm sure it WILL be fine but I have an actual LOCAL bike shop two blocks away where I could ahve gotten CLOSE TO the right thing!

There are plenty of good aluminum, and also part plastic skewers that would be scratched and dented by putting them in the trainer.

Just ask for a metal skewer, they work perfect for my Kurt Kinetic.
