Cyclocross - My tires are awful what should I replace them with?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I ride a Motobecane fantom it weighs about 25lbs.

I ride it mainly on regular road to commute (city and rual roads) with an occasional patch of gravel roads but not much.

Right now I use Forte's wheels (gotham I think 700x35's) which weigh 900 grams each (about 2lbs!!) and they feel like lead. They really slow me down (or at least it feels that way)

What would be a good compromise for speed and puncture resistance? (traction not that much of a factor).

Price here not much of a factor if it means really good tires (ideally I'd like to run 700x35's).

Any suggestions welcome!

Panarecer T-Servs are the best touring type tire I have used. Low weight for what they are, great flat resistance, excellent grip and wear. Not cheap, but I've seen them for around 40 bucks a piece. I paid 50 per tire at a shop and they have been absolutely worth it.

Panarecer Paselas are ok and a lot cheaper but wear much faster and I think don't corner as well.

I'm running 700x28 Continental GP 4 Seasons on my commuter CX bike. I don't know how happy I'd be with them on gravel though. The Schwalbe Marathon Supreme is a very nice tire -- good grip, reasonably light, good puncture protection -- and is available in 700x35.

Vittora Hyper: Light, fast and supple: http://www.vittoria.com/product/city-trekking/

Very good on dry gravel, bad pavement and smooth roads.

Had a set of Randonneur Pro's in the past... couldn't get them off the rim to save my life!
The bike shop had a time of their life as well....
