Hey all,

I recently received a $25 gift certificate to an overpriced online bike store and the only thing I can find there that I could use is a front rack to replace my make-shift low-rider racks I've been using on and off. The rack in question is the Blackburn MTF-1 Front Rack.

Now, I'm a big guy and I'm always carrying stuff, so my hybrids roll on 700x38c and Since I ride pretty much everywhere I go, I also have fenders. So, I'm concerned that this rack will not have enough clearance above my fenders (like the last table-top front rack I bought and then hack-sawed into the aforementioned low-riders). Does anyone have some experience with the limits of this rack?

The only information I can find on this rack regarding your question is the last post on this page (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/7666-Front-racks). Might give you an idea if the rack has not been changed over the years. I tried to find specs and measurements for the rack but came up short. Perhaps you could send a PM to someone on the forum who is using one. Do a search for threads about the rack.

I've found that Blackburn is generally pretty responsive if you post questions to their Facebook page.

I had that rack on my Raleigh Hybrid, same tire and wheel size with fenders, clearance is not a problem. I have moved it over to my touring bike because the rack works well for me. Something that works really well on it, if you just need a little extra pack space, the Nashbar Day Trekker works great on this rack. I'm very happy with the rack.

Thanks, DW99! That's exactly what I needed to hear.

Wow... that's annoying. Now the place from which I was to buy the rack (and to which I have a $25 gift card) is out of that rack.

I wish I could just get another place to accept this gift card.

I have the Blackburn MTF-1 and just measured it from eyelet hole to underside of top platform = 14.75 inches.

Eepok, I would ask them when they expect to have it in stock. Some places will give you a date, then you can decide if you want to wait on that item or not. Good luck.
