From city to city, for well intended reasons, from economical to environmental, thousands of miles of new bike paths have been created. With them came arrows pointing the flow of "traffic" and symbols signifying BIKES ONLY.
But what I've witnessed over years of riding is that these paths are representations of our society, or better yet, our breakdown of society.
People take to these paths, in general, with total abandon for civility, manners, rules, respect, or humanity. What has evidently deteriorated in society over the past 30 years is overtly reflected on these bike paths. One only needs to ride a bike to witness in black and white what is wrong in our society.
Don't get me wrong. It's not the bikers I'm talking about. It's all of the people who are on the path that shouldn't be on the path in the first place!
Following are photos and my Glossary that defines people and situations that we see, all too often, on the great bike paths of America (and some in Israel):
