cut out a two foot section of it, left me with just the ends(base and head). anyone ever fixed a hose instead of just replacing the whole thing?

Not sure where you'd find the proper head; Though, if its for schraeder valves, you could use a clip-on chuck designed for air compressors. Go to a store that has air compressor stuff. A place like home depot will have it, around here I'd go to Fleet Farm or Northern Tools. There you can buy a hose splice barb, hosing and the clip-on air chuck. Plus hose clamps. Plus: make your hose any length you like ( :eek: ) Minus: somewhat expensive, limited utility (schraeder only).

Cant you get a new tube and take of the end off waht is left and just put it on the new tube and connect the new tube to the pump? Am i on the right track?

Maybe the guy needed a fuel line for his car.
Anyway, you can easily splice in a new line between the pump and head.

Bleeding his brakes, more likely. I use a section from a broken pump attached onto a water bottle for that.

Get a splice from your local hardware store (LHS?) or two with some section of hose, and hose clamps, to fix the pump. If someone used it for a fuel line, they're in for a big surprise.

my LBS has one of those schraeder air compressor things, but they also have this attachment that lets them pump presta valves. they just have it attached to the end of the pump hose thing, and when they pump my road bike up, they just put the attachment thing on my bike, and then put the hose on it. or you can always just get one of those adapters..

Any stock air hose line, four hose clamps, and the brass twin male hose couplers can be bought at the auto part store. I used a similar approach to replacing worn lines in an auto application. As long as there is enough hose left attached to the head and the pump itself (~1in), you should be fine.
